Educational Games

This project has changed course: We have decided not to wait for ISFE and NICAM planned efforts on using commercial games for education. We now focus on getting educational games into primary school using TABLE or Surface PC's.

Educational games work, nobody will disagree with us on that. But how can you bring educational games to the classroom and get the most out of it? This project looks at promoting the use of "Table" or "Surface" computer solutions in primary school, in combination with educational content for these computers.

SMART Table

click to enlarge, doubleclick to return The SMART Table is the first multitouch, multiuser interactive learning center that allows groups of early education students to work simultaneously on its surface. The table's interface is so intuitive that even the youngest of students can get started without instructions. And you don't have to worry about durability - the table can withstand the most enthusiastic jolts and bumps.
The SMART Table interactive learning centre is designed specifically for primary school students. While other products might feature similar technology, The SMART Table comes with several education applications installed including Puzzles, Addition and Multiple Choice designed to be fun and encourage collaboration.
The Table also includes content packs such as Shapes and Naming Body Parts to assist teachers in developing learning activities. Additionally, teachers can use a PC or Mac and the SMART Table toolkit to create their own customised lesson activities and content for the Table. No other table-top learning display has these features. More applications and content will be added as SMART continues to develop the Table. SMART Table website.

This review of the literature about the use of computer and video games for learning will help with the design of learning materials."
