Virtual Reality Fitness prototype is ready! We have been testing our working prototype with athletes of GAC Hilversum.
Virtual Reality Fitness
Everybody knows that fitness is good for your health ...
Excuse one: "Exercise is boring!" - Make exercise fun. Distract yourself by watching TV, listening to music or books on tape, reading, or exercising with a friend. Keep a log or diary of your progress. Give yourself rewards for sticking with your exercise program (a new tape, a long-distance phone call, a night out, etc.)
Excuse two: "I can't exercise today because the weather is bad." - Always have a Plan A and a Plan B. If Plan A is walking outdoors, then Plan B may be stationary biking, walking on a trampoline, walking at the mall, or going to the local recreation center.
This product is sure to get rid of your boredom while you workout. Be it at home or in your local gym, we will provide the technology to translate your fitness movements to movement in a virtual reality environment. Our development team has created a low-end solution, based on wireless ANT technology already used by Garmin. The working prototype is based on a Windows platform, using an open source game engine. The software allows for advertisements to be shown during the excersise, thus using it as a marketing channel.

Virtual Fitness: Stimulating Exercise Behavior through Media Technology

In particular, we investigated the effects of immersion and coaching by a virtual agent on intrinsic motivation and the sense of presence of participants cycling on a stationary home exercise bike.
